Dans le Wisconsin, Jimmy, un garçon de ferme et son ami Wes, apprenti mécanicien, achètent aux enchères une grange dont ils ignorent alors qu'elle recèle un véritable trésor : un superbe avion datant des années 20 ! Bien décidés à profiter de ce don du ciel, les deux amis se rendent aussitôt dans un aéro-club afin d'apprendre à piloter. Le prix des cours est malheureusement exorbitant...
