Biographie
Il est auteur-compositeur-interprète, acteur, musicien et militant politique irlandais. Il est tout d'abord le chanteur des "Boomtown Rats", puis le co-organisateur avec Midge Ure du Live Aid en 1985 et de plusieurs concerts de charité. Il incarne également le rôle de "Pink", personnage à la dérive, dans le film "The Wall d'Alan Parker", qui reprend les chansons de l'album éponyme des "Pink Floyd". En 1977, ils signent chez Mercury Records, au moment même où le mouvement punk explose au Royaume-Uni. En s'inscrivant dans ce courant, les titres Rat Trap et I Don't Like Mondays rencontreront le succès dans les charts britanniques, mais aussi la controverse.
